Next-generation vehicle success requires advanced creative design, shared intelligence, systems engineering and multi-domain collaboration. Variable frequency drive uses a varying frequency and voltage signal to control the speed and torque of a motor. It promises an excellent control performance and energy savings up to 20% when compared to traditional driving techniques. However the fast switching of high currents is well known to create EMC issues and leads to the need of filtering the switching circuit.
New Challenges due to High Currents in Electric Power Trains:
-
Whole vehicle EMC:Certification / Product safety,AM band reception.
-
Human safety for magnetic field exposure: ICNIRP regulations, New regulations been issued (e.g.New Chinese Standard GB/T37130-2018)
-
Low frequency magnetic fields: Typical frequency ranges: Motor currents 500 Hz – 2 kHz, PWM signals 10 kHz – 20 kHz
In
this video, you will continue to learn how the EMC performance of a control system for an automotive motor can be simulated by coupling a full-wave 3D analysis to a switching circuit. The EMC simulation of EV are explained at all
levels, from cables to IGBT module, filter and motor, and up to power
trane, engine bay, and in the end, the full car chasis can be meshed and
simulated.
Conducted emissions are the effects in power quality that occur via electrical and magnetic coupling, electronic switch of semiconductor devices which form a part of electromagnetic compatibility issues in electrical engineering. These affect the ability of all interconnected system devices in the electromagnetic environment, by restricting or limiting their intentional generation, propagation and reception of electromagnetic energy.
