About InsuranceGuide
InsuranceGuide is an independent educational resource that explains insurance in plain language. We do not sell insurance, we do not broker it, and we are not paid by any insurer. Our only product is clear, honest explanation.
What Problem We Try to Solve
Insurance is full of jargon, fine print, and concepts that are easy to misunderstand until the moment you actually need your coverage — which is the worst possible time to learn. Most people buy insurance without fully understanding what they are buying, and many only discover what their policy does not cover when a claim is denied.
InsuranceGuide exists to fix that gap before it costs you. We explain the concepts, the vocabulary, and the questions to ask so that when you do speak with a licensed insurance professional, you are equipped to have a useful conversation and to read your policy with realistic expectations.
What We Are — and Are Not
- We are an educational resource. Our content explains how insurance works in general terms.
- We are not an insurer, broker, or agent. We cannot sell you a policy, quote you a price, or recommend a specific company or product.
- We are not affiliated with any insurer. No insurance company has any influence over what we publish.
- We are not a substitute for licensed professional advice. Insurance is regulated locally and priced individually; for your specific situation, always consult a licensed professional.
Who Creates the Content
Content is created and reviewed by the InsuranceGuide Editorial Team. We choose a team attribution rather than individual bylines because we believe transparency about our limits is more honest than the appearance of authority we cannot back up. We do not invent authors, credentials, or professional experience. If we cannot verify something, we do not present it as fact.
Our content is built on widely accepted, foundational insurance concepts — indemnity, risk pooling, underwriting, the structure of a policy, the claims process — that are stable across markets and described in regulator and industry publications. We deliberately keep claims at the level of what is generally true, and direct you to your local regulator and to licensed professionals for region-specific detail.
How We Choose Topics
We select topics based on the real questions consumers face when buying, holding, or claiming on insurance. We do not create a page simply because a search term is popular. If two topics would answer essentially the same question, we differentiate them clearly in angle and depth, or we consolidate them, rather than publishing near-duplicate content.
How We Review and Update
Articles are reviewed periodically and when we become aware that something is out of date or unclear. Each article shows a "last updated" date that reflects an actual review, not a cosmetic change. When we correct a substantive error, we update that date and fix the content rather than silently editing it.
How We Handle Errors
We are not error-free, and we do not pretend to be. If you find something wrong, please tell us through the contact page. We review every report, and when a correction is warranted we make it and update the review date. Full details of how we work are on our Methodology page.
How the Site Is Funded
The site is supported by advertising. Advertising is kept strictly separate from editorial content: advertisers have no influence over what we write, which topics we cover, or how we explain concepts. No page exists in order to show ads; every page is written to be useful on its own, and the site would remain coherent even if all advertising were removed. See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for how advertising and analytics work.
How to Contact Us
If you have a question, a correction, or feedback, the best way to reach us is through our contact page. Please note that we cannot provide specific insurance quotes or personal recommendations — for those, consult a licensed insurance professional in your region.
Our Mission
To make insurance understandable for everyone, so that people buy coverage with realistic expectations and fewer costly surprises.
Independence
We are not affiliated with any insurer or broker. No advertiser has any influence over our editorial content.
Education First
Every article and tool is designed to explain, not to sell. We translate complex insurance concepts into plain language.
Kept Current
Articles are reviewed periodically and show a real last-updated date so you know when the content was last examined.
